Bermagui Fishing Charters
Bermagui offers world class game fishing within a stones throw of Australia’s two biggest cities.
A 5 hour drive from Sydney, and 7 hours from Melbourne will bring you to one of NSW most scenic coastal towns which is also the closest point of land on the east coast to the continental shelf. This means that the Australia EAC brings warm currents down from the north in the summer months and and with it delivers to our anglers all three marlin species, black, blue and striped marlin. Bermagui is known as one of the best locations in Australia to get amongst the action with these fish of a lifetime! It is not unusual for us to catch multiple striped marlin in a day or even have two or more marlin hooked up at the same time! When the packs of striped marlin move into to feed along the shelf and 12 mile reef Bermagui really is the place to be!
As summer comes to an end we start to see the yellowfin tuna that Bermagui is famous for, yellowfin exceeding 60kg are not uncommon plus there’s aways a good chance of finding a huge late season striped marlin also. Bermagui is home to some of the largest yellowfin tuna caught in Australia not to mention being an awesome gateway to the world record holding grounds out wide for southern bluefin tuna!
13 miles to the north of Bermagui is Montague Island, a picturesque island still featuring it’s original lighthouse & keepers quarters. Montague Island provides a great reef system for chasing yellowtail kingfish along with the eastern side being literally a stones throw away from one of the most productive areas “the kink” allowing the unique opportunity to catch kingfish in the morning then marlin & tuna in the afternoon.
